IEA: In 2020, the cumulative installed capacity of PV in the world is 760.4GW, and the new PV capacity in 20 countries exceeds 1GW.
Recently, the International Energy Agency (IEA) released the 2020 Global Photovoltaic Report. The report shows that despite the COVID-19 outbreak and epidemic in the past year, the global photovoltaic market has once again achieved significant growth, with a DC side installed capacity of 134GW. As of the end of 2020, the world’s cumulative installed photovoltaic capacity is 760.4GW. There are 20 countries with new photovoltaic capacity exceeding 1GW. Among them, China, the European Union and the United States rank among the top three in the world with 48.2GW, 19.6GW and 19.2GW respectively.
In 2020, at least 20 countries will have new photovoltaic installed capacity exceeding 1GW. The cumulative installed capacity of 14 countries exceeds 10GW, and the cumulative installed capacity of 5 countries exceeds 40GW. Among them, China ranked first with a cumulative installed capacity of 254.4GW, followed by the 27 EU countries with a cumulative total of 151.3GW, the United States ranked third with 93.2GW, and Japan ranked fourth with 71.4GW.
The main growth of the photovoltaic market in 2020 will come from China and Vietnam, and a small part will come from the European Union and the United States. The main market decline came from India. In general, COVID-19 has no significant impact on the market development in 2020. Although the blockade measures during Q1 caused some project delays, most countries have resumed in the third and fourth quarters.
