Energy conservation and emission reduction have been written into the development strategies of many countries and become a global consensus. The concept of green and low carbon is gradually integrated into people’s production and life. More and more people are beginning to take action to make a change for the better tomorrow of the earth.
The UK government has announced a new target to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 78 per cent below 1990 levels by 2035, taking the current NDC target of 68 per cent below 1990 levels by 2030 a step further. The EU aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% from 1990 levels by 2030 (the original target was 40%) and to be climate neutral by 2050, after which it aims to achieve negative emissions. Japan has made a new commitment to cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 45 per cent by 2030 compared with 2013 levels (the current target is 26 per cent). China will peak its carbon dioxide emissions before 2030 and will achieve carbon neutrality before 2060.
